Obamas Healthcare Plan
An interesting article on Politico, comment please.
President Barack Obama promised over and over during the health care debate that “if you like your health care plan, you can keep your health care plan.”
It turns out that, for a lot of people, that isn’t true.

A Congressional Budget Office report issued this week says that 3 million to 5 million people could move from employer-based health care plans to government-based programs as the Affordable Care Act takes effect. And in the worst-case scenario, it could be as many as 20 million.
For Obama, it’s an inconvenient truth at a really inconvenient time — coming less than two weeks before the Supreme Court begins oral arguments on the law and just as the administration touts the law’s early benefits on its second anniversary.
And it’s not the only hard truth Obama and the law’s supporters are facing. No matter what they said about rising health care costs, those costs aren’t actually going to go down under health care reform. The talk about the law paying for itself is just educated guesswork. And people aren’t actually liking the law more as they learn more about it — and some polls show they are just getting more confused.
But it’s Obama’s signature promise — “If you like it, you can keep it” — that’s most likely to get thrown back in his face. Here are the four hard truths of health care reform as the law approaches its March 23 anniversary:
1) Some people won’t get to keep the coverage they like.
For Republicans, the CBO report is a giant “I told you so” moment — and they’re lining up to tell you so.
“President Obama repeatedly promised during the health care debate, ‘if you like your current plan, you will be able to keep it,’” House Energy and Commerce Committee Republicans said in a statement Friday. “Even under CBO’s ‘best estimate,’ President Obama will have broken his promise to 3 million to 5 million Americans each year, but unfortunately, that number could be much higher.”
Sen. Orrin Hatch (R-Utah) cited the 20 million figure, saying: “This law keeps getting worse and worse; it needs to be repealed.”
Supporters of the law say it’s not as bad as all that. The 20 million figure is the extreme scenario, they point out — CBO says that 3 million to 5 million is more likely. And that’s out of the 161 million Americans who would have had workplace health insurance before the law was passed.
Even in that case, the number is misleading, according to Topher Spiro of the Center for American Progress, because CBO says about 3 million wouldn’t be forced out. They would leave their workplace coverage voluntarily — possibly for better coverage, with subsidies, through the law’s new health insurance exchanges.

Obama blowing his own healthcare horn: Read about it here:
Obama campaign touting positives of health care act
2010, THE ASSOCIATED PRESS
Republicans, and some polls, suggest President Barack Obama may have difficulty turning the health care reform law into an electoral advantage.
Published: March 18, 2012
TAMPA –The Affordable Care Act, the health care reform law scorned as “Obamacare” by Republicans, may be President Barack Obama’s biggest achievement or the biggest obstacle to his re-election.
In a new public relations offensive surrounding the second anniversary of its passage, Obama’s campaign is promoting it as a political plus.
But Republicans, and some polls, suggest Obama may have difficulty turning the health care reform law, which generated red-hot political controversy through 2010, into an electoral advantage.
Obama’s strategy is to focus attention on parts of the law already in effect, many of which are popular and consumer-oriented:
- Prohibiting insurance companies from denying coverage because of pre-existing conditions, initially for children and soon for adults.
- Partially closing the “doughnut hole” in prescription drug coverage for the elderly.
- Allowing young people to stay on their parents’ health care plans until age 26.
- Requiring that policies cover preventive care, including colonoscopies, mammograms and possibly birth control, with no co-pay or cost to the patient.
- Ending lifetime caps on coverage.
- Prohibiting higher premiums for women based solely on gender.
- Providing tax credits for small businesses that offer employee coverage.

This is an interesting article about Obama’s Healthcare Plan from the Worcester Telegram and Gazette, pretty informative.
Having a medical plan or else paying a fine is about to become another certainty of American life, unless the Supreme Court says no. People are split over the wisdom of President Barack Obama’s health care overhaul, but they are nearly united against ..
but they are nearly united against its requirement that everybody have insurance. The mandate is intensely unpopular even though more than eight in 10 people in the United States already are covered by workplace plans or government programs such as Medicare. When the insurance obligation kicks in, not even two years from now, most people won’t need to worry or buy anything new.
Nonetheless, Americans don’t like being told how to spend their money, not even if it would help solve the problem of the nation’s more than 50 million uninsured.
Can the government really tell us what to buy?
Federal judges have come down on both sides of the question, leaving it to the Supreme Court to sort out. The justices are allotting an unusually long period, six hours over three days, beginning March 26, to hear arguments challenging the law’s constitutionality.
Their ruling, expected in June, is shaping up as a historic moment in the century-long quest by reformers to provide affordable health care for all.

Court to release audio of health care debate
The Supreme Court rejected news media and lawmaker requests for TV coverage of this month’s arguments on President Barack Obama’s health care law, and agreed to release same-day audio recordings.
The court, in a statement citing the “extraordinary public interest” in the case, said it will post the audio on its website each afternoon of the three-day argument.
The court will hear six hours of arguments March 26-28 and probably rule in late June. The central question is whether Congress exceeded its authority by requiring Americans to get insurance or pay a penalty

Implementation of health programs are being conducted by president OBAMA did have a lot of improvement, one of which is in terms of increasing the budget. Along with public demand for adequate health care, of course, must be balanced with a wide range of facilities available, such as hospitals, health centers, and various other supporting facilities. I hope with OBAMA’S health care plan will be able to provide a significant contribution to the whole community, although this policy must be proceeded by a struggle to seek approval from parliament to the health regulations that will be executed.
With the increasing population growth that exists today, of course, must be accompanied with improvement of public services, particularly in health. As we know that community need good facilities, especially those related to their health. Given OBAMA’S health care plan as the completeness of the facility, of course, could be a means in the future for the community in general, mainly to get good health care and in accordance with needs. Health program which has run the government is already regulated in the shrimp, so it must be run for the benefit of society.
If we notice, some health facilities that exist in society are inadequate, particularly from the services they receive. This is likely due to the high cost they have to spend to get treatment. But with the OBAMA’S health care plan all these problems can be a little overcome, both in terms of facilities, medical personnel, service centers, and also the availability of drugs. Communities are expected to conduct always oversight of programs that have been run, so it can be fully used. It needs a thorough coordination of all parties, especially those directly related to the implementation of the program.

Obama S Healthcare Plan
With the supervision of the implementation of the program, it is expected that all societies will be increasingly concerned about some of the programs you have running, especially OBAMA’S health care plan that is specifically designed for people who are less compliant in financing their health. Expected with this kind of program success will further encourage all parties to pay more attention to the needs of the community, particularly those involving public facilities. Necessary action that is serious enough that the program can run for long periods of time, so that it can reach all communities. System Implementation programs that run under the agreement between the government and parliament, where all the rules and policies of the full authority of government, while the parliament here only serves as a social control policy that does not harm society. Based on such consideration the implementation of this program should be done immediately, and keep always for the health service.
